The Missing List is a not-for-profit organisation manned by volunteers. To enable us to maintain and expand this important, free-to-use facility donations are gratefully accepted.
Protecting your children online is the aim of a new initiative run by the Harrogate South Safer Neighbourhood Team in association with the YMCA and the Harrogate Safer Communities Partnership.
CEOP (Child Exploitation Online Protection) short courses are being offered to all parents by PC Paul Stephenson on three evenings in May.
The free courses which last for only an hour will give parents an understanding of the main social networking sites such as MSN, Bebo, Facebook and Twitter.
They will pass on information about the potential dangers whilst providing essential skills regarding the safety and security measures that can help protect children who go onto such sites.
PC Stephenson said:
"We have had some high profile cases in the District as well as some which we have dealt with out of the public eye.
"Young people are putting themselves at risk without knowing it and parents are often not aware and unable to give advice about privacy settings and generally keeping safe."
The one hour sessions are being held at the YMCA training rooms, North Park Road (opposite Odeon Cinema) in Harrogate.
