Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in Birmingham in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

Officers were called to Aldridge Road, Perry Barr at around 00.05am today (March 7).

A dark coloured car was in collision with a male pedestrian, on the intercity carriageway, near to the junction of Aldridge Road and Church Road.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop.

The pedestrian, a 21-year-old man from Kingstanding, later died in hospital.

The collision is being investigated by officers from the road policing unit at Nechells Green police station, and anyone with information to assist with the inquiry is urged to contact them on 0845 113 5000
