The Metropolitan Police is appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Kenley on Wednesday afternoon, 12.3.08. Police were called at 16.50 after a black Toyota Yaris was in collision with a young boy in Church Rd, Kenley. At this early it is believed the Toyota pulled into a private entrance or driveway. The car moved forward in a right arc across the driveway and collided with a parked unattended car. The Toyota then collided with a boy - who was nearly two-years-old - and his mother (age not known). The boy was taken by LAS (London Ambulance Service) to May Day Hospital suffering head injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His mother received minor injuries. The victim has been formally identified and next of kin informed. However we are not issuing his name at this time. A post mortem has yet to be arranged. An inquest will be opened and adjourned in due course. The Toyota driver - a man (age not known) - stopped at the scene. The Metropolitan Police is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call the Collision Investigation Unit at Catford Traffic Garage on 0208 285 1574.
