    Owners warned to keep dogs under control: Thirsk

    Police in Thirsk are reminding dog owners to keep their pets on a lead this summer.

    An annual rule came in to effect on Monday 1 March, lasting until 31 July, stating that dogs are legally required be kept on their leads while on open access land.

  • Theft of large white ferret along with ferret box: Rushden

    A green-house at a property in Irchester Road, Rushden, was broken into between 4pm on Monday 15 February and 4pm on Tuesday 16 February.

    A large white adult ferret was stolen, along with a ferret box.

    Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 03000 111 222.

  • Three pregnant ewes injured by black dog with red collar: Stancombe

    At around 4.30pm on Friday February 19th a black Labrador type dog with a red collar injured three pregnant ewes in a field at Stancombe near North Nibley, potentially causing damage to the un-born lambs.

    Police are eager to speak to the owner of the dog and ask that anyone with any information about the incident contacts them.

    Rushford Road, Coney Weston between 8.30am 20/02/10 and 1.55pm 21/02/10.

    Five cockerels and a silver Sussex chicken have been stolen from a garden.

  • £1,000 herd of sheep stolen from farm: Milnthorpe

    Police are appealing for information and urging the public to be vigilant after a herd of ten sheep worth £1,000 was stolen from a Milnthorpe farm last week.

    Between Wednesday 17 February and Friday 19 February 2010, ten sheep were stolen from Greenmount Farm, Crooklands, Milnthorpe.

  • Dog poisoned with strychnine, police warning: Sheffield

    Police would like to warn dog owners to be vigilant after a pet was poisoned.

    The incident occurred on Friday February 19 at 5pm on fields surrounding Fulwood Head Farm, Fulwood Head Road, Mayfield Valley, Sheffield.

    The incident occurred when a Border Collie being walked by its owner ate something thought to have been laced with strychnine.

    A woman is urging other pet owners to be alert after she had to have her cat put down after it came home with injuries to its front paws.

    The woman contacted police last week to report the incident as it's thought the animal may have got its paws caught in a trap.

    An investigation is underway after a deer was savaged and killed by a lurcher dog in Leyland yesterday afternoon.(Thurs 25 Feb)

    The incident took place around 4.30pm outside the front gates to Garth prison where a blue Citroen Berlingo car has pulled up and let out a lurcher dog which has then attacked a nearby deer

    St Margarets Street, Ipswich between 3pm and 5pm Monday 22.02.10.

    A pet shop was entered and two live rare infant grey/brown giant African tortoises stolen from a secure glass tank.

  • Local appeal after illegal shooting of deer: Hamptworth Estate

    Wiltshire Police are investigating a number of incidents involving deer on the Hamptworth estate near Landford.

    During a relatively short period of time, a considerable number of deer have been found dead on the private estate having been shot.

    The offenders used a rifle to target the animals.

  • Chickens and chicken equipment stolen from coop: Tostock

    Church Road, Tostock between 3pm 15/02/10 and 6.30am 16/02/10.

    Seven chickens, two chicken houses, a chicken feeder, three waterers and a wheelbarrow have been stolen from an insecure coop on allotments.

  • Rare breed chickens stolen from property: Gordon Terrace, Twywell

    Police are appealing for witnesses following theft of chickens in Gordon Terrace between 5.30pm and 5.57pm on Wednesday 10th February.

    Several rare breed chickens were stolen from a property in Gordon Terrace, Twywell.

    It is believed the offender(s) gained access to the rear of the property and stole the chickens from a secure enclosure.

  • Owner sought following dog attack in park: Kidderminster

    Police want to trace the owner of three dogs after one of them seriously injured another dog being taken for a walk in a Kidderminster park.

    A woman reported to police that her black schipperke, which was on a lead, was attacked by a grey/white bulldog-type which was one of three dogs running loose in Brinton Park, Sutton Road, at around 5.15pm last Thursday (February 11).

  • Nurse and patient bitten as dogs run amok in hospital grounds: Middlesbrough

    A nurse and an in-patient are today recovering from minor dog bites after an incident in the grounds of James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough yesterday (Sunday 14th February).

    At around 6.45am police received a call from hospital security staff reporting three Rottweiler dogs were running around the hospital grounds.
